When the Obama Administration took over the White House in January, the federal deficit stood at $422 billion. As of the 31st of October, it now stands $1.42 TRILLION! Our total national debt also soared to $7.5 trillion at the end of last month. The President's response to out of control spending and continued record deficits? Creating a commission to figure a way out of this budget mess!!
The Federal Government has lost touch with the American people. If they hadn't they would have heard the voices of the people loud and clear. Just stop spending money we don't have! Every American family has to balance a budget, or face the consequences of being fiscally irresponsible. It's a lesson that the Obama Administration has failed to learn, or worse, chooses to ignore.
When candidate Obama was campaigning for the White House, he made fiscal restraint a cornerstone of his message. He told the American voter over and over again "Washington will have to put off spending." How quickly the President has forgotten his promises to the people. Since taking office, he has pressed Congress to rubber stamp a $787 billion stimulus bill, pushed for a vast expansion of S-Chip, a huge omnibus appropriations spending bill, and an $80 billion car bailout bill. Now the President is pushing for the Senate to pass the $821 billion cap and trade bill that has already been rammed through the House. Of course, don't forget, that he is pushing for passage of a health care bill that will cost almost a trillion dollars.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, now the Administration and the Democrats in Congress are talking about the need for another stimulus package. According to a story in the Los Angeles Times, President Obama and liberal Democrats are planning a new jobs package that will spend an undetermined billions of dollars (money that we don't have) to put people back on payrolls --- exactly the same thing they said the $787 billion stimulus bill was going to do!!
Now, Speaker Pelosi says the American people are angry about the size of the deficit because they don't have jobs. So her rationale is let's make the deficit larger and pass another stimulus bill that she hopes will do what the first one didn't. It's no wonder people are angry!
Their anger and disgust is evident everywhere you go in this country. They are angry over the unprincipled antics of the Obama Administration and the professional politicians running Washington. They know that we don't need more debt or a commission to tell us what to do. The answer is quite simple. Stop spending now!!!
