Dear Friends,
I did not run for Congress to vote the straight party line or make the easy votes. I firmly believe we are in the current financial mess because we have strayed far away from sound financial principles and the federal government has tried to spend its way into prosperity.
If there was ever a time that the federal government needed to get its financial house in order, it is now. No more massive deficit spending and short term accounting gimmicks intended to get politicians re-elected. I will continue to fight for the next generation. That means serious cuts in spending, eliminating wasteful programs and saying no to the special interests.
Many of you have contacted me about my recent votes against the Bailout Bill. I researched this legislation and sought more input from experts in financial markets than any other on which I have voted. In the end, it came down to this:
1. It was too much bailout and not enough workout.
2. There was too much government interference in the free market.
3. There was too much power given to just a few people with virtually no accountability.
The world invests in our economy and markets because they have been safe and predictably free. America should remain the standard bearer for freedom and the free enterprise system.
If the Obama Democrats take control of the White House, we will be facing one of the more radical shifts in the direction of our nation in American history. And if the Democrats retain control of Congress, they will control the entire federal government!
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (D.C.C.C.), along with groups like ACORN and MoveOn.org, has dumped tens of millions of dollars into Congressional races. They are constantly expanding their list of targeted seats. We must have the resources to fight back.
I need your help as we come to the finish line. As you know the last days of a campaign are always the most critical. To contribute, please click here. Thank you!
Sincerely,
