Small Business Backs U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn for Reelection

NFIB endorses “a true friend of America’s small-business community” in Tennessee’s 7thDistrict

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 12, 2006 — The National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s leading small-business group, today announced its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn for reelection in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional district.

“It is critical that the voice of small business is heard by our nation’s lawmakers, and during her tenure in Congress, Representative Blackburn has proven that she is a strong leader in the fight to protect small-business owners from rising health-care costs, increased taxes and abusive lawsuits,” said Dan Danner, executive vice president of NFIB.

Blackburn has sided with small business on all of the important issues - voting with NFIB 100 percent of the time so far this congressional session. Taking a stand for small-business owners in Tennessee and across America, Rep. Blackburn voted to eliminate the death tax, create Small-Business Health Plans and reduce frivolous lawsuits against business owners.

“NFIB applauds Congresswoman Blackburn for understanding the critical obstacles facing small-business owners,” said Danner. “For the past 20 years, the rising cost of health insurance has been the number one concern of small-business owners. By voting for Small-Business Health Plan legislation, Congresswoman Blackburn has shown her commitment to providing more affordable health insurance for small-business owners, their employees and their families.”

“Marsha Blackburn is a true friend of America’s small-business community,” added Danner. “We offer our strong support to Congresswoman Blackburn as she campaigns for reelection and look forward to continue working with her on small-business issues in the 110th Congress.”

NFIB’s political support is based on the candidate’s positions and record on small-business issues. Rep. Blackburn’s endorsement comes from NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the organization’s political action committee. The endorsement brings the considerable grassroots support of Tennessee’s small-business owners to the Blackburn campaign. NFIB has been ranked the most influential business-lobbying organization in the country by Fortune magazine all four years the magazine has conducted its survey.

National Taxpayers Union

The Marsha Blackburn Campaign is proud to announce its endorsement by the National Taxpayers Union. The National Taxpayers Union has given Congressman Blackburn an "A" rating and ranked her 12th best out of 435 House Members based on her Congressional votes.

Every year the National Taxpayers Union rates U.S. Representatives and Senators on their actual votes - every vote that significantly affects taxes, spending, debt, and regulatory burdens on consumers and taxpayers. Unlike most organizations that publish ratings, the National Taxpayers Union refuses to play the "rating game" of focusing on only a handful of Congressional votes on selected issues. The National Taxpayers Union voting study is the fairest and most accurate guide available on Congressional fiscal policies.

The Taxpayer Score measures the strength of support for reducing spending and regulation and opposing higher taxes.

The National Taxpayer's Union believes a score qualifying for a grade of "A" indicates the Member is one of the strongest supporters of responsible tax and spending policies. We are pleased to give these Members of Congress our "Taxpayers' Friend Award."

National Rifle Association | Political Victory Fund

NRA-PVF Endorses U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn for TN District 7

(Fairfax, VA) - August 24, 2006 - The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse incumbent Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn for re-election in Tennessee's District 7.

Chris Cox, NRA-PVF Chairman, stated, “Representative Blackburn exemplifies a pro-Second Amendment Member of Congress.  She is a steadfast supporter of our freedom.  She has a legacy of fighting for and protecting the Second Amendment for all law-abiding Americans, and she has earned the trust of Tennessee’s District 7 gun owners and NRA’s endorsement.”

U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn earned an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund.  Rep. Blackburn received the NRA-PVF superior rating due to her long-standing support of the Second Amendment.

Congresswoman Blackburn co-sponsored the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which President Bush signed into law last fall.  In addition, she supported legislation to prohibit the use of federal funds for the confiscation of lawfully possessed firearms during a state of emergency or major disaster.  She also sponsored the NRA-supported bill to repeal the decades-old gun ban in Washington, D.C.

“Tennessee’s hunters and gun owners value their right to own firearms, and Marsha Blackburn is the best candidate to help them preserve that freedom.”  Cox continued, “We urge all NRA members and gun owners to vote for Marsha Blackburn on November 7.”

Chris Cox also serves as Executive Director of the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Actions (NRA-ILA).

(Washington, D.C.) – The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGWPAC) today announced its endorsement of Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R) for reelection to the House of Representatives from the 7th District of Tennessee.

“Rep. Marsha Blackburn has been a true champion for her constituents and for all taxpayers while serving in the House of Representatives.  She has adhered to her fiscally conservative principles in a time of out-of-control spending by both parties,” CCAGWPAC Chairman Tom Schatz said.  “We are confident that her strong leadership and longstanding values will continue to guide her agenda as she seeks another term.”

Blackburn has received a lifetime rating of 89 percent from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.  A member of Congress with a rating greater than 80 percent qualifies as a “Taxpayer Hero.” In 2005, Rep. Blackburn helped Congress pass a tax cut extension and a budget reconciliation package that saves taxpayers $39.7 billion over five years. This year Rep. Blackburn helped pass the Line-Item Veto Act and earmark reform in the House, both critical to cutting wasteful pork projects from the federal budget. She also helped found the Washington Waste Watchers in Congress in 2004 to target government waste, fraud, and abuse.

“Throughout her career, Rep. Blackburn has pushed for practical solutions to budget problems.  Now, more than ever, we need people like Rep. Blackburn in Congress,” Schatz concluded.  “She will work to reduce America’s debt burden and improve its economy.”

CCAGWPAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGWPAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.

The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund

Dear Marsha Blackburn,

I write to you today to inform you that the SBA List Candidate Fund is proud to announce the endorsement of your campaign.

As you know, the SBA List Candidate Fund believes that it is important to have women speaking out against the atrocity of abortion on the floor of Congress

We look forward to working with you in the next Congress to pass common sense pro-life legislation like a Ban on Human Cloning, the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act, and Holly's Law.

With 81 Women in the Congress and only 15 being pro-life, there is an urgent need for more pro-life women to speak on the floor of Congress in support of pro-life legislation. You will be a welcome addition!

Good luck in your race.

Sincerely,

Marjorie Dannenfelser
President

The Leaf-Chronicle

Marsha Blackburn has served as the U.S. representative from District 7, which includes part of MontgomeryCounty, since 2003.

In that time, she has been a staunch advocate for FortCampbell and the military, active and retired.

Military Officers Association of America of Middle Tennessee saluted Blackburn for her pro-military service member voting record and concurrent receipt legislation efforts. The American Legion National Headquarters recognized Blackburn for voting to support increased Veterans Affairs medical care funding.

Also while on Capitol Hill, the Congresswoman has served as an assistant majority whip and was vice-chairwoman of the Government Reform Subcommittee on Government Efficiency and Financial Management.

She was one of the members of Congress who pushed for the deductibility of sales tax payments in those states such as Tennessee that don't have an income tax. She also worked with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System to secure about $4 million in impact aid, money allocated by the federal government to offset the cost of education for military dependents living off post.

Marsha Blackburn is our choice for District 7 Representative, and we recommend her to the voters of that district.

“It is humbling to be recognized for our efforts on behalf of the city of Clarksville, MontgomeryCounty, the FortCampbell community, and all Veterans and Guardsmen living in the area. The support shown to us by local elected officials and local community leaders has been heartening. It is an honor to add the endorsement of the Leaf Chronicle for our re-election effort.” – The Marsha Blackburn Campaign
